Day Nurseries provide childcare for babies, toddlers and pre-school aged children. Parents can choose whether to send their child for a whole day or part of a day.
Some can provide pre-school education (also called nursery education or early education), whilst others can provide before and after school care and holiday care for children usually aged 5 - 7 years, or by today up to 13 years of age.
Private companies, individuals or partnerships may run day nurseries. They may be supported by employers or managed by community groups. All day nurseries are registered with the Care Standards Inspectorate for Wales and are inspected annually.
Each nursery will have its own scale of charges and should have a written agreement with parents. Ask for details and information when visiting and choosing a day nursery for your child.
